What makes me angry? Thats a fair question. The one thing that will really infuriate me more than anything else is when Im tripping back in time to some ancient epoch, and I come across something that touches my heart—could be a litter of puppies, small children playing with their rude handmade toys, or just the fellowship enjoyed by a group of shepherds breaking bread over a crock of lamb stew on a cool desert night—and a guest who Ive brought along from my time period says something like, You know, in our time those wild ponies will have been dead for over fifteen centuries. Thanks, genius, like I dont already know that. That pisses me off even more than someone creating a time ripple effect that negates the birth of someone I love. I usually just give the person a dirty look and make a mental note that from now on, he or she will only be invited to trips that take us into the relative future. If the jerk really makes me mad, I strand him or her in the past for a few weeks. You should see how pissed off people get when you go back to pick them up and theyve become galley slaves or are about to be guillotined in the Thermidorian Reaction. Sometimes I take the payback a little too far and the offender dies in the past, but hey, thats why I have a time machine.
