What must I do to be saved? . why do I need to saved? Id say, I dont need the threat of hell to be a good person. when we are saved we are saved mostly from ourselves, the essence of a Pharisee is someone who thinks they are good when secretly we know we are not, we just try to put on an act. There are times we have regret , or disappointment over the thing we have done things we know are wrong. we like to pretend that our guilt is a thing of our past, and we live with freedom to do what we want, underneath most of deal with these regrets. . The Gospel is simply good news for sinners. Jesus came to cleanse us from our sin and guilt.in acts we are told to repent and be baptized every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. but the key is repentance., Paul tell us you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved The word Lord means master, and we choose to worship and follow Jesus, and we should have a change in our attitude and behavior. But this requires a genuine change of heart that causes to be born again by the work of the spirit of God. : the essence of true repentance is not just saying I am sorry. and is something you can not do on your own, thats why you come to Jesus. not that you could wipe your slate clean, you come to Jesus dirty, Then He helps you walk the way you should go, it does not mean you wont sin again, but difference is our direction is towards Jesus.True repentance is a a four stage change : 1 a change of mind, what we believe in Jesus, knowing we are not good . 2 a change of heart , when we choose to value Jesus and what he taught us above anyone or anything else, and put Jesus first, then in turn we put other people a head of us. . 3 a change of behavior, in the way in which we act and live . 4 a change of direction. we are no longer living for our selves we are living for Jesus. . I heard this statement, if you feel you have the need to try harder with your relationship with God, that is not God talking to you it is the spirit of religion. but if you feel the need to give God everything, that is the Holy Sprit talking to you. Religion is having your spiritual ducks in a row, but the Spirit of God points out Jesus and everything he has done in a completed work on the cross, that is offered to us if we turn away from what is broken in our lives, and fix our eyes on the one who finished the work. Jesus. . I can tell you all I was one of those people, thinking I was good, and living for myself, with no real caring for others who need more, and I turned away because I was too busy I say I believed in God, but it was just words. Not until that sad day ,did I realize I was not good, and truly gave my life to Jesus, was I truly saved. And now I am not the person I once was! I can tell you all I saw the same change in my wife Lessie, who gives everything she has to others who need it, whether it is her time or possessions, She is not the same person she used to be.
