“What my clients face is that they are not only NOT taught the rules of the game, but they are put in a corner and told, ‘You can’t play, and you will never, ever be able to play.’” Lauren Burke, Esq. will deliver a guest lecture titled Disrupting the Status Quo: Creating a Youth Empowerment Model for Undocumented Immigrant Youth on October 16, at 6:30 p.m. in Wilson Auditorium at Westfield State University. Since graduating from the NYU School of Law in 2009, Attorney Burke has dedicated her career to empowering immigrants and children, focusing on survivors of trauma. Her message is that every young person has a right to a college education and any young person can become an agent of social change. Burke is the Executive Director of Atlas: Developing Immigrant Youth (DIY), a public interest career counselor at NYU School of Law, and a 2014 Echoing Green Global Fellow.
