What next?????? Modi to meet RSS top brass in Delhi, may discuss Cabinet formation Courtesy: CNN-IBN | 18-May-2014 07:55 AM New Delhi: With the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) receiving a decisive mandate and winning by a massive margin in the Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister designate Narendra Modi was on Saturday welcomed with open arms in Delhi and Varanasi. But with the first target now achieved, it is time for the party to focus on the immediate challenges. Modi will be meeting the RSS top brass in the national capital on Sunday to decide the future course of action for the party. Discussion of Cabinet portfolios for his government is also likely to be on the agenda for the meeting. Modi along with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and Rajnath Singh is expected to be present at the meet. Unlike the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government where the role of the RSS in the government was always shrouded in secrecy, its role appears more direct and open in the Modi government. According to sources, the party is considering Arun Jaitley for the Finance Ministry and Sushma Swaraj for the Defence Ministry or the Ministry of External Affairs. Former Army Chief General VK Singh is likely to be given a Minister of State post in the Defence Ministry. BJP President Rajnath Singh is eyeing the Home Ministry while Nitin Gadkari is likely to be given the Railways Ministry or the Infrastructure Ministry, say sources. Sources say BJP allies like LJPs Ram Vilas Paswan will also be inducted and could be given Health or Agriculture. The partys parliamentary board is also set to meet on May 20. Rajnath Singh on Saturday had announced that Modi will be formally elected as the leader of the partys Parliamentary Party at its meeting in Delhi on May 20 ahead of taking oath as the Prime Minister. The decision to convene a meeting of the Parliamentary Party was taken by the BJP Parliamentary Board, the highest decision-making body of the party chaired by Singh and attended by Modi, LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley and other top leaders. Meanwhile, analysts are pondering over whether Modi can match the rhetoric with the reality. I hope he talks less and works more, senior journalist Manini Chatterjee said. Since Modi has often cited his minimum government maximum governance formula, the size of the ministerial council too, will come under the scanner.
