What next for Malaysian sports? Badminton - lost to Japan, albeit they played a very good game. What will happen at the next Thomas Cup when DLCW has retired? Squash - DND has only a couple of years to play at top level. 4years at the most, depending on her fitness level. After that? Beng Hee is too old to make a comeback. Sepak Takraw - We were No. 1 but have been losing to Thailand regularly. Golf - None of or players can get close to the Thais, Koreans, Japanese or Indians and the Chinese. Let us not think about having the next Tiger Woods or Annika Sorenstam. Tennis - Our officials said we are too small built to be good in this game but Chinese and the Japanese are in the world rankings. Hockey - we were once the top 4. But... Athletics - Istiaq Mubarak, Marina Chin, Zaiton Osman, Rajamani, Jegathesan... where are their replacements? Football - Korea, Japan, China, Saudi.... mention Malaysia in the 70s, they shiver. Now, I dont think our national team can beat their under 18s. However, with a new President, hopefully this will change but not wait another 30years to change the President. Also, with a new and hopefully vibrant Minister of Sports, I hope all of the above will improve... what you guys think?
