What (one of the thousand things) I learned today-there are certain people that you connect with immediately, and trust, and accept without question, and you feel like you have always known them-from the first contact. It isnt like you meet them as friends, but that you have been friends forever and just found each other again. Or you meet someone new, and connect and seem to wear and breathe the same light. You recognize in each other a kindred spirit. It is like an electrical current connecting, not like attraction, or familiarity. There is no gender or age, but something deeper, primal, and it is difficult to pull away. There is a homesickness to the feeling, a knowing you will miss them, even though you have not met before. An elderly woman connected to me this way tonight. We passed, and I remembered someone not known to me, but known. If you understand what I am talking about, you understand the many who exist but are never seen by the majority. For the briefest part of time, she was young and we spoke without words I dont even know, an unknown language seen through different eyes, hers and mine, both black as coal. Then she walked her way, and I walked mine. We both wore a parting smile, on that small street somewhere near my sleeping place in Santa Fe. I am a night walker and so was she. The dark covered us both, and I now return to my door, my temporary bed, and my dreams. I am a coyote. Peace and love to you.
