What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions till the seed should come to whom the PROMISE was made and it was appointed through angels by the hand of mediator. Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one. Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! FOR IF THERE HAD BEEN A LAW GIVEN WHICH COULD HAVE GIVEN LIFE, TRULY RIGHTEOUSNESS WOULD HAVE BEEN BY THE LAW. But the scripture has confined all under sin that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who (came) to believe. But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. THEREFORE THE LAW WAS OUR TUTOR TO BRING US TO CHRIST (the same mind as) that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, WE ARE NO LONGER UNDER A TUTOR (teacher). COMMENTARY: Has anyone ever informed you that there have been times in the history of man when there was no revelation from God. This was not because God did not or does not exist. It is because men did not seek Him in spirit and truth. There were many prophets as there are today but they were blind as they are today. The prophets of today speak to you of foolishness. They believe that giving praise to God through singing ushers them into the presence of God all the while extolling that Jesus of Nazareth died for their sins and therefore brings them to a state of righteousness to life long adherence to laws or what they refer to as the ten commandments. Hundreds of years before the commands of Moses who ushered in the Levitical priest hood which was a priesthood of daily offerings both for the sins of the priest and the people, there was another priesthood. It is into this priesthood into which Jesus followed. The scripture informs us and it informed Jesus that He was a High Priest in the order of Melchizedek who was the minister to Abraham. Now Abraham was obedient to Melchizedek in that he followed the instructions of Melchizedek and was given faith, the evidence and substance of the kingdom of Heaven through the visitation of angels. It is in this way that faith a gift of God comes by hearing which is to say hearing instruction from one who has been given the knowledge of the truth. The application of and adherence to the laws of Moses was not meant to burden men but to limit or narrow his view and control his nature or heart. So Jesus informed those delivered to Him, I did come to abolish the laws/instructions and the prophets but to fulfill them which is to say realize the purpose of them. For the laws are not teachers of morality or righteousness or goodness but led to faith, the evidence and substance of God and the kingdom of Heaven and how a man came to love the ways, seasons and judgments of God and through this love overcame the fear of men, calamities and death coming to a peace of mind formerly lost in the futility of its thinking in the basic principles of the world. This is true conversion which is the transformation of the mind and heart of a man from one who seeks vengeance to one who seeks to do the will of God and the will of God is that all men MIGHT be CONFORMED to the image of His son for he who is led by the knowledge of truth revealed to him by the spirit of God is a son and a royal priesthood. And blessed is he who is the peacemaker (in the battle of the spirit against the flesh) for he shall be called a son of God. ALL THINGS ARE PERMISSIBLE BUT NOT ALL THINGS ARE BENEFICIAL. ALL THINGS ARE LAWFUL BUT NOT ALL THINGS ARE BENEFICIAL FOR NOT ALL THINGS LEAD TO THE DISCERNMENT OF WHAT IS GOOD LEADING TO LIFE IN GOD AND WHAT IS EVIL LEADING TO DEATH. THERE IS NO CONDEMNATION IN THE MIND OF CHRIST JUST A FEARFUL EXPECTATION OF JUDGEMENT WHICH IS FAIRNESS IN DETERMINING TRUTH.
