What sets Reggae on the River apart from so many other festivals is its tremendous heart. This event arose in response to a need that a group of progressive, young pioneers saw in the 1970s for a community center, a cultural hub that would provide artful, educational and social services to their new home in rural, Southern Humboldt County. Thirty years later, Reggae on the River is still the primary fundraiser for the Mateel Community Center!
