What should I do? While the vast majority of our clients are seriously injured who have no choice in selecting a healthcare provider as they are taken to trauma centers after their accidents, we receive calls from people who are hurt in less violent accidents and are not sure if they are hurt and ask us if they should see a healthcare provider. Our answer is, once again, simple: it is always a good idea to have an examination after an accident in order to make sure that there isnt something seriously wrong with you. This philosophy was confirmed by a defense attorney in an early trial we had when he questioned the amount of medical treatment and bills our client incurred, but told the jury that everyone involved in an accident should see a doctor to make sure nothing is wrong. The question that is dicier is when a person with a soft tissue injury asks us should I continue going to a doctor? The answer to that question can be determined by asking yourself this question: would I go for continued treatment if there were no lawyers, lawsuits or insurance companies? If the answer to that question is yes, then you should seek additional treatment. If the answer to that question is no, then you probably shouldnt continue treatment. We hope this helps you in some of you medical-legal decision making.
