What should you expect during the first session with a psychologist? Other than the standard intake paperwork people complete for all first session doctor appointments, psychologists will ask about your history of psychological treatment, history of symptoms, some details about the reason for the appointment, and perhaps have you complete a questionnaire of symptoms. Basically, the first session is no different than any other doctor – paperwork, interview, and measurement. The session will end with a conversation about the doctor’s recommended treatment plan.
