What the Blood of Christ Does So what is it that the blood of Christ does? Christ didnt just die on the cross and leave it at that. When we talk about the blood of Christ, we talk about it as an active thing. Its constantly a presence in our lives. Its active and powerful. Here are some things Christians believe the blood of Christ does for each of us: • Redeems us from sin Redemption is a word taken from the slave market; the basic idea is that of obtaining release by payment of a ransom. 1 Cor 7:23 (Jer) You have all been bought and paid for. Titus 2:14 (NIV) [Jesus Christ,] who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. • Purifies our hearts and minds For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12) • Frees us and helps us Romans 8:26 NLT And the Holy Spirit helps us in our distress. For we dont even know what we should pray for, nor how we should pray. (NIV) • God wants you to have true peace by meditating on what is holy (act of thinking) Romans 8:6 The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; (NIV) • God wants you to have true peace by praying - about everything (act of doing) Because of the cross you have access to the throne of God. (NIV) • Protects us from the effects of sin There is no good tree which produces bad fruit…. The good man out of the good stored up in his heart, brings forth what is good. (Luke 6:43-45) It is true there because God is involved and makes his help available to those who seek it. On the other hand, where there is no will (firm intentions based on clear vision) there is no way. • Gives us confidence The Bible reminds us that self-confidence is given to us from God. He provides us with strength and all we need. 11 Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. (Hebrews 11:1) • Cleanses us of our sins “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” Gods means of cleansing the sinner is by the blood of Jesus, shed on the cross, which cleanses us completely and brought us into fellowship with God; this same blood of Jesus keeps us clean from all sin that would sever that fellowship. This is a continual cleansing from daily sins that are present from our fallen nature. The Scripture tells us To “walk in the light, as he is in the light” to have fellowship (koinonia) with the brethren and God. • Brings us closer to God Personal prayer brings us closer to God No matter how busy we are, we must make time for prayer! Our Lord is calling us to participate in His life of Grace, for prayer is a gift from God. Prayer is a conversation, and Jesus is constantly looking for a few good people he can talk to, and who can talk to him. That means everyone! This is a gift that keeps on giving. Prayer enriches and at the same time makes us humbler for accepting a gift. His Gift, the gift of one so holy and precious that we cannot really refuse Him for long. James 4:6, 10 tells us, God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. Our worship to God is a very humble and reverent action. • Reminds us that every day is gift “Each day comes bearing its own gifts. The devil is real, he is your enemy. The devil wants to destroy you. WHEN OUR FAITH IS IN JESUS CHRIST - SATAN HAS NO POWER OVER US He has absolutely no power over us when our faith is in Christ, for Jesus said: Behold I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
