What the Mirror Said Reflections on Domestic Violence We are - TopicsExpress

What the Mirror Said Reflections on Domestic Violence We are writing a play on Domestic Violence and survivors. The play will be loosely based on interviews and interactions with some of the beautiful survivors we know. Our mission is to help raise awareness and empathy for the people who have survived Domestic Violence, and raise hope and education for our community as we support and love those who still live inside. We will offer a series of questions (writing prompts) for participants to share some glimpse of their stories. Answers can be anywhere from one sentence to five pages long. They can be in the form of prose, poems, lyrics, artwork, stream of consciousness, or anything. We ask that you email your response to us. Only one member of our team will see these emails – and they will protect your name and identity. We would like your email address to correspond further, but you are welcome to use a fake name if you want. Though, please let us know if you have already changed the names in your story, so we don’t duplicate the effort. Our story will center on the imagery of a mirror. For all of our questions, imagine you are standing in front of a ‘smart mirror’ that shows not only your reflection, but also behind you shows your life at a point in time. Let’s start with today. When you look in the mirror now, who do you see? And what/who is behind you? Basically, what is your world, now, as a survivor? Who is back there supporting you? What rituals and systems do you have for self-care? How do you continue to survive? Remember, there are no wrong answers. And there are no wrong ways to deliver your answer. We would be honored to hear your story of today! Email your response to whatthemirrorsaid@gmail
