And yes, you can be defined as low income and not pay taxes, and still not qualify for exemptions to get health coverage. Part of the population that falls thru the cracks and winds up with no health care at all. Policyholders will soon receive information from insurers about the opportunity to renew their coverage. However, the notices, written by the government, could be misleading: They will display premiums for 2015 and the amount of subsidies for 2014. More than 80 percent of people who bought coverage on the exchanges are receiving premium subsidies in the form of income tax credits. To determine the amount of their subsidies for 2015, officials said, consumers will generally need to go back to the exchange. And to have their subsidies updated by Jan. 1, they will need to do so by Dec. 15.
