What the author is really saying is that, if I dont care about you, you should at least entertain me with your Facebook statuses. First of all, those offenses are indeed annoying. But is that so bad? Why cant people act the way they want in FB? I do have to maintain that bragging from friends is a good thing if you care about your friends. You should feel happy for them. You only dont like bragging when it is someone you dislike whos doing the bragging. And there is an easy way to avoid that. Just remove them or tell FB to hide their updates. The bottom line is: why shouldnt I tell anyone that Im happy on Facebook? Whats it for if Im not supposed to do that? The author just wants to turn FB into a marketing blog. I think the author is simply confusing FB with blogs. Nonetheless, anything excessive does get annoying. Sometimes that goes into the too much information category. Real friends wont mind me being annoying.
