What the current trend of violence is imprinting on the psyche of kenyans is that, the government security apparatus is incapable of guaranteeing the safety and security of its people, in particular, the failure of the intelligence services to contain the recurring security breaches. And, unless, there structural distortions and anomalies are addressed, the monster of insecurity will loom large. There should be a complete overhaul of the security agencies in the country to pre-empt these security breaches. The inadequacy of the governments approach to security is evident at several stages. Shortcomings in the prevention of violence and the will to investigate incidents of violence. It was only two years ago when over 40 police officers were ambushed and massacred by unknown criminals in Baragoi. Today, very similar ugly incident is being witnessed in Baringo which claims the lives of over 30 police officers. This is a matter of serious concern that requires an urgent resolution. The government must act decisively and punish culprits of such heinous crimes, most of whom have became conditioned to acts of carnage, brigandage, looting, massacre and butchery
