What the hell is happening in rural New Hampshire?! I dont live in - TopicsExpress

What the hell is happening in rural New Hampshire?! I dont live in Fitzwilliam, but Im watching the bullshit just keep piling up over (of all things) roosters crowing. I take issue with this nonsense for a lot of reasons, but the one which worries me the most is the big picture. As of right now, this very rural town is proposing that roosters be confined to a walled enclosure between the hours of 7pm and 7am. This is absurd and anyone who free ranges their chickens will immediately recognize that. My concern though, is that this ordinance will be a gateway for even more ridiculous such ordinances. Perhaps in a year or two, theyll outlaw the ownership of roosters in general. Or any birds which disturb the peace in any way. Ever heard a flock of Guinea Fowl sound an alarm? Or a peacock? Its not quiet. Maybe theyll up the ante and decide cows mooing or horses neighing is an egregious disturbance and all livestock will be regulated to a similar point of absurdity. Heres the deal; if you dont want to hear the sounds of a farm, then dont move to a home near a farm. Part of rural living is accepting that people are going to use their land for rural purposes. If you want to live in utter peace and tranquility, find yourself a tidy little cabin surrounded by conservation land where you wont have to tolerate the activities of your neighbors. Of course then youll have noisy coyotes and owls to contend with. Good luck getting them to obey an ordinance which caters to your delicate sensitivities.
