What to do on a Puerto Rican Christmas Eve? Off we went on an ATV Trek into the foothills near El Yunque Rainforest, which youll see on the mountain behind us in one shot. The midpoint was a crystal clear river draining from El Yunque. Yes we swam and jumped off rocks, but B has to send me those for me to post them. However, the guides did share some history on the area which included how they Taino used soft river rock to make body paints for warfare, rites, and other uses. Here B models a more traditional design, while I just had to create an abstract on my upper arm. Very cool. I told B that it would be fun to sit by the river and cover myself in an abstract painting. Then like a sand mandala, swim and wash it all away. Another highlight was on part of the ride when we went through some massive stands of bamboo. With the white noise of the ATV engine, and the mesmerizing effect of the bamboo sweeping by, I fell into a really great meditative trance. It ended when B hit a mud puddle. 8-) As an aside, she did confirm my life insurance was paid up and my will was current before she launched forth.
