What to wear to a wedding 2014. December 28th Yesterday my husbands youngest brother married his beautiful bride and we had the privilege of attending their special day. We all dressed up and made a big effort to look our best. A wedding is the ultimate occasion to dress up. Infact I consider it an insult to dress down unless the invite expressly says casual dress. Our girls had new dresses and I wore the red Trelise Cooper dress in the pictures. Dave was in the wedding party so he dressed in the same gear as his 4 brothers - their gear was from Barkers. They all looked fantastic. My boys wore button down shirts and trousers from I Love Ugly (official) and Ripcurl and dressy shoes. Here are my tips for wedding dress: 1. Wear your best clothes - a wedding is where you wear them!!! 2. If your best clothes are more than 5years old you may need to invest in something new. Frugality is not for weddings. 3. If you are taking little girls to a wedding make an effort and do their hair. Pretty braids, flowers, ribbons and lovely hairstyles are for weddings. Check out CuteGirlsHairstyles for ideas and excellent tutorials on how to do fab styles. 4. Wear shoes that look good that you can also dance in - a wedge is a good option if you cant manage a stiletto. Remember that heels do flatter and denote a formal occasion. 5. If you are the bride then opt for a dress with straps or sleeves or something interesting - a strapless dress looks good on a rare few and you spend the whole day hitching it up! 6. Bridesmaids look best in colour. Black is not a great choice for a wedding full stop. If you are struggling for colour choose a universal colour that suits all skin tones like the coral Gina chose. 7. Wear make up. Full stop. Minimum tinted moisturiser, mascara and lipstick. 8. Dont drink to much. Its disrespectful and inappropriate. 9. Mingle and introduce yourself to others - its way more fun. 10. If you are a Mother of the Bride of Groom (MOB) people will be looking at you as well so a new or smart outfit is a must. Let me know if you need help with a wedding outfit. I have heaps of experience in this area and love nothing more than putting a great occasion outfit together. We are off to the post wedding BBQ now so next post - what to wear the day after...
