What was I thinking? I was tired of seeing this groundhog going in & out from under the shed so I plugged up the hole with a heavy bag of fertilizer. That was just the other day & today I go out to the shed and there is hole right next to it even bigger than the original. This stinking groundhog showed me up big time. I got to thinking about the determination of animals & how foolish we can be as they out smart us. I got to thinking about how much we humans can be like groundhogs. In a way we think we can outsmart God if we are even willing to acknowledge there is a God. Some of us live as if there is no God and than many of us live with a god of our own making. We strive to be good and all the while wondering if we are good enough. Psalm 14:1 says, the fool has in his heart there is no God. We who acknowledge that God exists but choose to live by our own standard, the Frank Sinatra way; ( I did it my way) kind of life. Like the groundhog we dig, we tunnel through life but NEVER have our eyes open to the TRUTH. That is we are just NOT good enough. We continue to walk in darkness until we by Gods grace we get the WAKE UP CALL! The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light. Isaiah 9:2 The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his masters crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider. Isaiah 1:3 Heavenly Father, thank you for being so long suffering towards your created beings. Thank you for providing the ONLY WAY to be reconciled and be made in right standing before God for them that believe in the finished work of the Savior foretold 700 years before it happened written in the Jewish scriptures.
