What was that part about You can keep your plan? - TopicsExpress

What was that part about You can keep your plan? #Obamacarepain I have my own individual family policy through Humana. My plans entire cost is $300/month for for health, prescription, dental, vision, and life insurance for my daughter and myself. I believe that is a reasonable amount, and am happy to continue with this plan. 10/1/13 a letter was sent out by my insurance company telling me I could keep my current plan or choose to find a plan through ACA until Dec. 31. The letter did not say anything about what would be expected on Jan. 1. Yesterday I called Humana and was told that my plan was fine and that I had a choice to keep it, even after Jan. 1. When I insisted on a quote of the cost after Jan. 1 (so that I can budget the cost) I was put on hold. The representative came back and apologized for giving me incorrect information. He asked me to please take back everything he had just said. The truth, as he put it, is that I can keep my current policy and rate until Dec. 31. At that time I will have to apply for a new policy with Humana or get a plan through the ACA. Again, I asked for a quote on the new policy and he refused to give me one. He insisted that Humana mailed out letters outlining costs of a policy through them and through ACA. I asked, if they had mailed the letter, and I had yet to receive it, could he look it up in their system and give me the price. He declined and told me to call back at the end of November if I hadnt received the letter. Goodness, no wonder this country is in such a mess. Its a budget! I prefer to have it prepared at least 6 months out so that I can plan for unexpected things and put some money back for my daughters college fund. How am I supposed to wait for the end of November to request a number that will need to be adjusted 30 days later. Im a single mom not receiving any government assistance. I would like to continue to NOT rely on the government, and/or their rules, especially when it comes to my familys healthcare. It feels like I am being punished for being responsible for myself. If the guy who works at the insurance company doesnt have a clue about what the truth is with my policy the first time around.... who does??? The issue of not being able to get a quote is not giving me a warm fuzzy feeling about the rate being anywhere close to what it is now. I ran the ACA estimate... and my policy cost will go UP $1400+ year for lower benefits. Plea - Is there anyway to turn this monster off? Is there anyway to go back?
