What we LOVE about this story on Trauma Intervention Program (TIP) of Southern Nevada, Inc.: 1) An emergency room (ER) doctor speaks to the value of TIP - from personal experience. Thats note worthy because there are some local trauma center emergency room doctors who have chosen to remain ignorant to TIPs service & value. 2) The ER doc in this article speaks truth in a concise fashion - I was confused by everything at the time, but then I realized he (TIP volunteer) was helping me understand what was going on, that he was answering my questions about what the police, the coroner and the mortuary were doing. And he was listening to me talk about my mother, let me get my emotions out - he was never judgmental. 3) TIP of S. NV Exec. Dir. Jill Bernackis comment, Were comforting people, not counseling them. Precisely. Thank you to the Las Vegas Review-Journal for this excellent story on a very deserving program. And thank you to University Medical Center of Southern Nevada for having the sense to recognize and utilize a program that contributes so much to both your regional community as well as your hospital community.
