What we got from Reagan was someone who after all is said and done, was a petty, petty man, whose shallowness is the blueprint for everything that is horrible in politics today. He, who decided the ratting out against your friends for their political beliefs was acceptable in the 50s; he, who destroyed a great university and school system as Governor was acceptable in the 60s-70s (used to be number one for both in California); he, who earned his way to the White House by race baiting and negotiating to keep our hostages in Iran until after his election; he, who fired the entire network of traffic safety controllers (safety be damned), traded arms for hostages, and spent on defense like there was no tomorrow in the 80s (the effects of which have extended into the 2010s).
