What we have said since day one is being confirmed by recent news articles. Questions and concerns about back room and under the table deals. Motivation and actions by elected officials need to be questioned if it appears that unethical or illegal activity has ocurred. There are critics (outside of Halfmoon ) attempting to frame Future Halfmoon as a Democratic run page. They are wrong. This argument does not hold water. Do they think the residents of Halfmoon are gullible or worse-stupid? If anyone wants to run against an elected official they would need to run within a different party. The political party in power- the only political party in power are the Republicans. What other major political party is there? The Democrat party. Party affiliation needs to be set aside. If we all vote party line then mistakes can happen. The Republicans played that game in 2001 NYC. Michael Bloomberg, a Democrat, switched his party registration to Republican in 2001 and ran as a Republican. He was elected as a Republican mayor for NYC. As it turned out he was a great Republican-NOT!! The LOCAL Republican party is nervous and not healthy. The sheriff race demonstrated this. An endorsed Republican candidate was almost defeated by a man who entered the race late and had absolutely no political experience. Supreme Court Justice Robert Chauvin (Republican) was a Halfmoon town attorney. While a town attorney he bought vast land and helped build developments using a front man to hide this from the residents. Why hide? Does that seem ethical? Sounds shady, right? And of course Mindy Wormuth Republican Supervisor for the Town of Halfmoon who is being investigated by the FBI for possible criminal activity with Halfmoon developers. The town needs political balance. There is no checks and balances. Without checks and balances the party- whichever- can and will likely take advantage and act unethically or worse criminally. We need balance, and this is why we support Deanna Stephenson and Joe Christopher for positions on the Town Board. They need be town council members. Outsiders, and the GOP representatives, who want to undermine our progress will attempt to do so by making us into what we are not. WE ARE REPUBLICANS, CONSERVATIVES, INDEPENDENTS, LIBERTARIANS, and DEMOCRATS (minority) Just like the makeup of the town of Halfmoon. We will continue to post articles and opinions. We encourage conversation, but rants and tirades from people or groups that reside outside of Halfmoon will not be tolerated. A warning will be given and if not heeded that group or person will be banned.
