What we need are anti-discrimination laws which provide proper and substantial restitution to the workers. What this letter writer is asking for such as compensation and reinstatement is not in our employment laws. There is no statutory basis for MOM to do this. MOM needs to go beyond barring firms from hiring migrant workers, which is what it has done. It is not a justice oriented outcome and cold comfort for the dismissed Singaporean employees.
