What we need today is for every Christian to be willing and ready to make a defense of the faith. The Greek term for defense (apologia) is the word from which the English terms apology and apologetics is derived. It often means a formal defense in a judicial courtroom (Acts 25:16), “To them I answered, ‘It is not the custom of the Romans to deliver any man to destruction before the accused meets the accusers face to face, and has opportunity to answer for himself concerning the charge against him.” But the apostle Paul also used it for giving an answer for the hope that is within us. The gospel is always identified as the hope that is in believers, and we are to defend this hope before unbelievers; speaking the truth in love. (Eph. 4:15). As you go through this day and everyday try to remember Peter’s exhortation in his first epistle where he says, “Always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence (1Pet.3:15)- Just Thinking Out Loud – In Christ Alone bro fred – sola scriptura
