What will guide your thinking and decision making in 2015? - TopicsExpress

What will guide your thinking and decision making in 2015? Matters of the Heart? Science Matters? Sometimes we allow our hearts to guide us in making decisions that affect others in profound ways! Often demonstrated through the holiday season, we give food to the hungry, provide shelter for the homeless and engage in random acts of kindness. Our hearts are warmed knowing that someone’s life may be better for at least another day. I hope as 2014 comes to an end, you continue to open your heart with kind words and reach out to your neighbor in need. Matters of the heart are a life long journey. Science matters also affect us in the upcoming year. You will be called upon to make decisions about your attitude and actions towards the song dog that often moves under the cover of darkness. It will take your voice to educate the public who fear, loathe, and persecute predators. Here in NC, that includes the coyote. This animal is a great regulator for pest control. It helps to keep diversity by keeping bird-eating predators in check! Education will help bring minimal human contact and conflict! So what can you do? 1. Keep pets inside at night. Coyotes are primarily nocturnal. 2. Do not leave out pet food or allow bird seed to overflow from the feeder. 3. Secure garbage cans and place them curbside on the morning of pickup. 4. Use outdoor lighting with motion sensors. These are just a few ideas of what can be done to allow the coyote to remain free and wild.
