What will happen: - Landlords will favour people they consider to be obviously British to avoid the risk of a fine. It doesnt matter how much people gently remind them not to discriminate that is what this law gives them the incentive to do and so it will happen. - Those who have a passport or biometric identity card (whatever the hell that is!), will end up being favoured over those who the landlord would have to go to the hassle of checking themselves, especially for the lowest cost housing which goes on and off the market very quickly. It will give people who have their papers to hand an edge in a very competitive situation. - The system whereby you can check on someones right to be in the UK will probably be expanded to all kinds of other areas. - People who are illegal will end up destitute with no one legally allowed to help them. - I will break the rules, maybe not these rules but some related rule that spins off this in the future and Ill go to jail and I wont be sorry. m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-30251741
