What would happen, if suddenly, the North Korea Threats became real? What if North Korea, or any other country, attacked Canada or one of her allies? Would you trust the ageing, over-houred F-18 Hornets to defend Canadian Airspace? Or would you let 65 aircraft defend almost 10 million square kilometres of land, putting the risk of 34 million people at stake? That is what you would have to do, if the Canadian Government decides to go through with this flawed plan. Unless, the Canadian Government started a company to build our own planes, like the Super Arrow, the most advanced plane on this planet. Money this, money that, the economy is strong! No, it is weak. That is all we have been hearing over the news for the past few years, and the government has found more and more reasons why we should keep the F18’s and cut funding to military programs. Canada could save millions of dollars in the long run if they were to build the Super Arrow. Not only that, but they would sleep better knowing that the Canadian made aircraft would be safer, faster, scarier and more dangerous for the enemy in a combat situation. So come on, Canada. Let’s not make the same mistake we made 54 years ago when we cancelled the Avro Arrow. Let’s not buy the American made Aircraft, lets retire the F-18’s and build our own. Let’s make our economy stronger, create jobs, and make every single Canadian look in the sky and say “Wow. That is the Super Arrow. We made that.” Let’s show the rest of the World that Canada is no laughing matter, and let’s show them who knows their aviation. Fund this project. It is the RCAF’s only hope. Please, please don’t make the same mistake again. -Josh Bruneau
