What would happen to churches if this attitude prevailed? What could the church do if no one cared whose name was on top? This is what Paul challenged the Philippians with and it is a good challenge for us today. Do we ultimately trust that God sees our lives, or do we jockey for attention using spiritual language? This is a test that every follower of Christ must pass in order to go forward in maturity. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.Philippians 2:3-4 (NIV)
