What would you do? This will be an unbiased thought from a probably biased parent of a new kindergartener. Lets say 60 kids enter a school for kindergarten for the first day. All of the kids are brought into one room and 4 smiling teachers are there taking attendance and handing out name tags, then the kids are instructed to go and find one of the 4 stations of toys that they want to play with. Theres a station with dolls, a station with Knex, a station with cars, and a station with blocks. 2 cousins enter the room, not at the same time, but when they notice each other in the room, they gravitate towards each other and choose the same activity to do. They have fun playing together with each other and with the other kids. When the teachers call the kids together, they listen and come together with everyone. The teachers then determine that after viewing them playing together for that hour, that they should probably be split up for the rest of the year so they can make new friends because they seem like they wont try to make new friends based on the hour they spent together. The parents of both cousins had previously requested that they be put in the same class, and one of the sets of parents had even held their son back a year partly to be in the same class as his cousin. The teachers and principal decide that its best to go against those requests in order to give them the best chance of success in kindergarten, all the while not having any previous knowledge of the kids and their behaviour together or apart. Do you become a squeaky wheel as a parent because thats the only thing that seems to ever work, or do you calmly try to reason with the administration about the change, or do you leave it as is trusting in their snap judgement? Ill leave my biased, yet educated, opinion in the comments along with yours :)
