What would you do Wednesday? - So, I was at the barbershop with the boys and the gospel filled atmosphere changed quickly. The grandmother of a 18-24 month-old child started yelling at child to stop crying etc. Soon after the teenage relative joined in as they attempted settle the child into the barbers chair. Michael drew closer to me as Kingston looked frighten but sat still while getting his hair cut. Michael said, Mom I am afraid and I feel sorry for that baby. I calmed Michael in an outward and expressive manner in attempt to also curb the grandmother and family members behavior as I motioned for the owner of the shop to intervene. He looked at the barber, of the grandmother, who was also taking it all in. I felt like I was trapped in an episode of - What would you do? The family and the child left as we were leaving. I called the owner and the other barber and expressed my concern and explained our collective responsibilities under the circumstances. We all agreed that it would never happen again in our presence. My sons have prayed for that child every night without fail. #wemustdobetter!
