What would you do if money were no object? A story. About 10 - TopicsExpress

What would you do if money were no object? A story. About 10 days ago I was in Portland, Oregon, speaking at a popular American wedding photography convention called Mystic Seminars. I felt a little bit like a fish out of water: despite the fact that Ive been speaking for several years and love people, being in the spotlight and having people looking at me and having to deliver a message still is not a comfortable experience for me even though I believe passionately in what I speak about. I went down to Portland with an open mind, but Ill be honest in saying I wasnt expecting to come away changed. I was wrong. This was a conference full of people who are well-versed in the art of telling peoples stories, and it was one of the most amazing experiences that Ive sat through, no matter what your genre of photography. One of the speakers who hit me the hardest was a fellow Canadian - an amazingly talented, humble, and passionate photographer from Calgary - Gabe McClintock Photography. First, no matter who you are, and even if youve been married for 40 years and have zero interest in wedding photography....follow this guy. Like his page. Read what he posts. Inspiration can be hard to come by for many and he gives it in spades. During his presentation he played this video that I have attached. Ive made many changes in my life to bring me to a place where Im doing what I love, but thats not to say I didnt have so many doubts, and fears getting there. It took me many years to take the nerve-wrenching plunge to follow what my heart wanted me to be doing opposed to what I thought I should be doing...and I thank my wife every day for being the final nudge to get me there. This video, centered around a message by Alan Watts, perhaps better speaks to the message of following your heart than anything Ive ever seen. Thank you, Gabe, for sharing it. vimeo/60087670
