What you do in the secret – I mean when no one is there, goes a long way in shapening both your future and your public life. Anyone who does not fear God when no one is there can never fear God in the public. Anyone that beats insults his/her spouse in the secret will no doubt do same in the open. So, things you do in the secret, be it positive or negative, has the power to carve either positive or negative future for you. Apart from the fact that, God sees into your private life, what you do are seeds planted that will someday germinate and produce fruits. For instance, it was not the day Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus that he actually started his act of betrayal. His private life had already been soiled with thefts, covetousness and insubordination. The ultimate end of Judas was actually a confirmation of what had been transpiring in his private life. No wonder the scriptures say: ‘No good tree bears bad fruit, neither does a bad tree bear good fruit’ (Luke 6:43). Similarly, David came out a skillful harp player and a sharp shooter which ultimately helped him to bring down the giant Goliath in the open because his private and secret life has been full of meditation on God’s word, constant rehearsals of harp playing while tending his father’s sheep. Besides, the respect and fear he had for God in the secret was what really prevented him from killing Saul even when he had the opportunity to do so to his own advantage. A man with a tragic and disgraceful end, no doubt must have had his private life riddled with all manners of vices. How is your private life? Is it in line with the scripture? Is it worthy of emulation, if exposed, will it not earn you shame and disgrace? However, it is not too late to effect amendment. Your latter end shall be great. You won’t end in shame. God bless you!
