Whatever anyone says or thinks, there is a factor that contributed to Fayose’s victory at the election that many people , overlooked. Without considering his wife’s contributions, the story of his victory at the poll is incomplete. Feyisetan, in an interview, said of her husband: “He is the only one I have. After God, it is him. I don’t have any life besides him, so, you can see him in me and me in him. I don’t have any other duty to perform than to support him spiritually, physically and morally. If I have 10 prayer points to pray about, if you look at it very well, after thanksgiving, I raise a lot of prayer points. At least, nine of those prayer points will go to him, then the remaining one, I will split it, half for the children and the remaining half for myself.” A devoted Christian, Fayose’s wife believes in seeking the face of God before taking any decision. According to her, “when he said he wanted to go into politics, I was against it because we were successful in our business. So, the question was why? He told me he would love to serve his people and gave me the opportunity to pray about it. He said he would abide by the outcome of my prayers. What I heard then was there shall be no loss and I told him to go ahead that the Lord would assist him but he must be ready for battles here and there. “When the battles came, I continued praying. God had prepared one for it, so one did not have any other alternative than to pray because anything you are involved with without facing challenges, check that thing very well, you are not likely to be carrying something genuine. “But when that thing is good and solid, you will see people chasing and fighting you over it. I saw that period as a time to check oneself and challenge God that God, why this? I asked you before I ventured into this thing and you gave me the go ahead so, what is it that is happening? “That is not to say that when God has given you go ahead on a particular issue that you will not face hurdles and challenges but the thing is that you are going to overcome because God is on your side,” Feyisetan said. Having this at the back of her mind, Feyisetan said that was the reason she wasn’t troubled in 2006, when she saw it in a vision that her husband was going to lose his seat. According to her, she relayed the dream to her husband and a few months later, Fayose was impeached. This made people who were in the know to “fear” her and it even earned her the appellation of “Prophetess.” When this woman came out on 7 January, 2014 and predicted that her husband was going to win the 21 June election, while some people felt her pronouncement was the ranting of an ambitious woman, others who knew she doesn’t get involved in idle talks took her words to heart, waiting anxiously to see if her prediction would come to pass again. For the husband, Ayodele Fayose, his wife’s word was the assurance he needed that he would once again rule Ekiti State. Feyisetan told Ekiti people that, “I am not a politician but a woman who believes in God. As the Lord liveth, I have simply come to announce to you and any other doubting Thomases of the inevitable return and restoration of my husband, Mr Ayodele Fayose to his seat as the next governor of Ekiti State. “By the special grace of God, his return is certain and so destined. I am telling you that nothing can stop it. Fayose is a man with fierce outlook, but with a good heart. Almost eight years after his exit, his name is still a household name in Ekiti.” Just like she predicted, on 21 June, Ayodele Fayose again became the governor-elect of Ekiti State. Going by the trend of events therefore, it is easy to conclude that there is no doubt about the fact that Fayose’s victory was beyond “stomach infrastructure,” rather, he won because he married a virtuous woman and therefore obtained the favour of God. So his victory was ordained by Him. 7 mins
