Whats For Dinner....... Failure 1950...... my dad went to a potluck at work and loved one dishes so much he got recipe for my mom. It was for meat balls, but instead of ground beef you used beef liver. So a few days later Mom got out her grinder, one of the old hand turn grinders that you affixed to the table, stuffed the liver in and began to turn the handle....... blood ran down and squirted everywhere, all over her, the counter, the floor, the chairs and even up to the ceiling..... undaunted and newly married my mother was hell bent to make this for my dad. Mom kept grinding and grinding and until she couldnt turn the handle anymore. In tears, she sat down in one of the bloody chairs just as my dad came thru the door. He said it looked like there had been a mass murder in our kitchen........... It took them hours, soap, bleach and even Q-tips to clean the nooks and crannies. The following night my dad came home, having asked the lady about her recipe, the woman said, well of course you have to cook the liver first ........................................something she had left off the recipe.
