Whats happening in Syria is neither a revolution, nor a civil war. It started out by an opposition to the Assad government, but was quickly transformed into a war between Islamist terrorists, such as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and other terrorist groups, funded and armed by Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states, as well as supported by the US and Turkey on the one hand and the Syrian government forces on the other. The US got involved in helping the Islamist fighters because it sees its strategic objectives in the region in regime change in Syria, even though the war has already cost $200,000 lives and made two million people refugees. What and whose strategic objectives are above so many human lives and so much suffering? Regime change for what purpose, for whose interests?
