Whats in a name? For years I have been trying to trace my family name and it usually points toward France before trails go cold. On my recent trip to Europe, one of my excursions was to Guernsey Island, which is off the northwestern tip of France and is just west of Jersey Island. Not knowing a lot about Guernsey, I began to research the island and learned there is a Fermain Bay and I could see the bay from the boat. One difference is the lack of a t at the end of Fermain. Ive seen variations of this spelling with and without the t at the end. Nonetheless, I was still intrigued to find this area on Guernsey Island that had a four-star hotel, street, beach, several stores, tavern, and bay all with the Fermain branding.
