Whats interesting to me about this is that the excommunication isnt simply over what the LDS church would say are errant beliefs, but also teachings and actions that undermine the church [and] its leaders. So, much of the reason for this action is that Mrs. Kelley brought public controversy to the church. Yet, her doctrinal disagreements are the more important of the issues. The simple truth is that the LDS churchs teachings are contrary to Scripture on both the nature and extent of Christian priesthood. The Bible teaches in 1 Peter 2:5-9; Revelation 1:5-6 and Galatians 3:28 that all who are in Christ stand before God as priests unto Christ and thus have no need for any intermediary, for Christ alone is the only mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5). All believers; no matter their race, gender or national identity; are priests before God, not after the order of Aaron or Melkizedek, but after the order of Christ, who is the eternal high priest of the Church. The saddest part of this whole situation is that Mrs. Kelley still expresses love for the false church that has excommunicated her and a desire to be accepted into its false priesthood. May God open the eyes of all those lost in the depths of false religion and draw them to saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
