Whats local to God? Hey, this is the Chaplain again. You know, listening to the news or reading the newspaper can be depressing. There’s bad-news all over the world every day. Of course what we care about the most is what’s “local” to us. For example; a serious car accident with multiple injuries in our home town gets more of our interest than the headline that says, Scores killed as boat sinks off the coast of Korea. And that’s understandable. Local things mean more. The good news is that everywhere, and everyone, is local with God. He feels the pain of the local family in crisis - and He knows the name of every person who died when that ship sank off the Korean coast. Everybody is a person for whom Jesus gave His life. No one is more special to Him than anyone else. He loves us all the same. That is reassuring - and at the same time convicting. How much do we really care about the thousands of souls dying around the world every day, many of them without every hearing the Good News of Jesus? “God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever would believe in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) But how much do we love the world? When was the last time you thought about the millions of people who have never even heard the name Jesus? When was the last time you prayed for them; or did anything to reach the world for Christ? Romans 10:13-15 says it pretty well. “Yes, ‘everyone who trusts in the Lord will be saved.’ But before people can pray to the Lord for help, they must believe in him. And before they can believe in the Lord, they must hear about him. And for anyone to hear about the Lord, someone must tell them. And before anyone can go and tell them, they must be sent. As the Scriptures say, “How wonderful it is to see someone coming to tell good news!” Maybe that’s something for you to pray about. If you’d like to talk to someone about spiritual things, you can call Chaplain Paul at (479) 264-6146, or email: chaplain.northcut@gmail . I’d love to talk and pray with you, anytime. May the Lord, Jesus Christ, draw you always closer to Himself.
