Whats my take on consuming caffeine & pre workout - TopicsExpress

Whats my take on consuming caffeine & pre workout supplements?? Terrible, you will never catch me using stimulants to increase performance on a regular basis. Supplement companies will have you believe that taking certain concoctions in certain combinations will deliver you fantastic results, getting you jacked, when in reality you just leave the gym feeling wired before crashing. Why? Those who drink coffee or take pre workouts think that this is providing them a valuable source of energy. In reality, they are stimulating the adrenal glands causing them to produce some adrenalin. If you constantly drink coffee or take these supps, you are constantly stressing your body, causing it to produce low levels of adrenalin. The stress and adrenalin will, over time, lower your immune function, which leads to susceptibilities to a thousand different symptoms, from mood swings, to anxiety, depression, yeast infections, digestion problems, food sensitivities, bloating, fatigue, brain fog, wide awake late at night, insomnia, the list goes on. Chances are if you are reading this is drink coffee every day and train hard regularly, you definitely have impaired adrenal function of some level. Over time, that cup of morning coffee isn’t enough, so you go for a second; then a third or fourth. Maybe you start looking for energy drinks and other stimulants, too. Your adrenal glands can’t keep up and eventually they just give up and shut down. Your body will, over time, try to make up for the lack of hormones your adrenal glands are producing. You’ll spend a lot of time looking relatively healthy despite feeling pretty tired and generally unwell. You’ll also begin to experience low blood pressure, weakness, and other symptoms as your body becomes unable to properly process sodium and other things you crave. I havent taken a pre workout in 7 years, & havent had a cup of coffee in over 8 months. I have way more energy then I ever have, consistent and smooth throughout the day with no crashes. If I go to train and am not feeling it, I simply walk out of the gym and come back the next day, simple as that, no obsessions or ego involved. Whats the take home message? Stop taking stimulants, sleep more, stress less, and instead of relying on stimulants to train, actually mentally prepare yourself and psych yourself up naturally so you are focused and ready. If you ever burn out your adrenals you will know about it, youre looking at 6 months to a year recovery on that one! If you just cant find the energy or enthusiasm that day, bingo- you are overtraining and need time off. Not always the words you want to here, but we are here to do whats best for your body, not your ego ;)
