Whats on my mind? Well, FB, Im glad you asked and, as always, I am happy to share my latest rant with you my good friend ;) I am thinking how lucky I am that my allergy to aspirin (a salicylate) only extends to it causing extensive bruising and not, say, anaphylaxis. How so, you ask? Well my good friend FB, my lovely gastroenterologist at Boulcott Hospital put me on a standard protocol following my procedure yesterday that involves me taking Asacol. Whatever is that, I hear you cry! That is something that, according to the literature you get with prescribed medication is something you should NOT (in capitals) take if you are allergic to the aforementioned salicylates......something I only, regrettably, read AFTER I had taken my first dose....... And the response from Boulcott Hospital? Oh thats OK dear, just dont take any more of them.....not ooh how awful, he mustnt have read your allergies, Ill make sure he does better for future patients who may have incredibly severe allergies, nor oh dear, lets refund you the cost of getting those shall we, because we know that specialist scripts arent subsidised like GP scripts are......! The patient survey will not be overly favourable this time around.... :(
