Whats on my mind? a 2014 graduate. I met her at an area fast food restaurant tonight. She was working the counter..she looked familiar, turns out I had taught the young lady, but had unfortunately forgotten her. I asked her a few general questions and soon remembered her as one of my quieter and cordial students. I proceeded to take my tray to a booth where I sat down to eat. As I did, SHE came nearby and swept the floor......we soon began a dialogue where I found out she was starving for some counsel. She was looking to leave Clyde, explore and so forth. It wasnt like she was unhappy here, but she felt she needed to find her way elsewhere. I told her I understood. I shared the fact that I had been all over the USA. I felt at that moment I had her undivided attention.....I hoped I was giving this kind girl the advice she might appreciate so much years from now. I told her there is a HUGE world outside of this area, and that experiencing it would only help her find what she wants to do and where. I suggested Colorado, Utah, or Washington State. At least those are my favorite states in the WEST. This young lady has a year at Terra already in her schooling portfolio; now, perhaps, she will take a educated risk and explore what might be there for her in this big country of ours. Maybe she will return by choice, but she, I HOPE will feel; much more fulfilled and enriched by seeking further possibilities for her own growth. I wish her the very best!
