Whats on my mind taday?? ....well a lot of stuff, but what is my latest passion well it is something called Active Wheel System. Michelin from what I can tell is leading the pack in this technology, but from my window is very exciting. The new 2014 Chev Volt, from my read is the 1st American Car Company 2 incorporate this technology into their car. Volt is using this technology in conjunction with an internal combustion motor (hybrid), but clams to be able to travel 900 miles in between petro fill ups. I truly believe this is the turn of the coin where internal combustion motors are on their way out and Electric motors are in. Think about it? As battery efficiency increases as well as photo cell technology it is a no brainer. At this time a comparable internal combustion motor that delivers power at the wheel is say around 20 % efficient or an 80% loss in Energy delivery at the wheel and say the same vehicle using this system at this time is 90% efficient with about 10% loss of Energy at the wheel. From my window, the only way we can truly vote in this country or the world in fact is with your dollars. I certainly dont know about the rest of you but my next Auto will be with this type of technology .......hahhaahah just saying ps this is not new technology, believe it or not the 1st recorded inventor of this technology was done by Porshe in 1900 4 the 1st 4WD ..... it is back!!! treehugger/cars/michelin-unveils-active-wheel-in-affordable-electric-car.html happy trails jeff
