Whats on my mind today? This is: (albeit, a bit long, a bit of words, and probably boring, but I think a few might hang with it) So --- While reading Robert Prices, The Incredible Shrinking Son of Man, today, I stumbled upon what I consider to be practically the same line penned by me in a Bachelors level Humanities 101 paper in 1992. However, I will grant that Dr. Prices version is much better than my scribbling... So, in the words of the Doctor: ...it is not too much to suggest that the [Jesus] Christian story has been borrowed from the Buddhist. Ever since Alexander the Great, traffic and trade, not to mention propaganda, had flowed freely between Greece, the Near East, and India. It is by no means unrealistic to suppose Christians and Jews were familiar with Buddhist and Hindu stories and liked what they heard. ... That was Robert Price. In my paper I accused the Biblical Matthew (whoever he was) of plagiarizing Confucius. Heres Matthews 7:12: So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. Confucius wrote the following 500 years previous: “Dont do unto others what you dont want others to do unto you.”(Lunyu 12.2, 6.30). Regarding Christ and Jesus, I do believe that Confucius was a real person. I dont grant the Christ figure the same status.
