Whats playing this week: Ten years ago, I broadcast my first special Christmas Show from a community radio station in Eugene, Oregon. After a long hiatus from radio and our familys move to Maui, this will be my 3rd-ever Christmas Show, and its going to be a great one. While I like to say Merry Christmas, the show really honors several spiritual traditions - Christmas, Hanukkah, Family, Home, Compassion, Introspection, Peace, Creativity and Humor. And of course Ohana and Aloha; two deeply meaningful traditions rooted in the Islands. Ohana is family, which in Hawaii includes not only ones parents and siblings, but also ones cousins, in-laws, friends, neighbors and heritage; along with a call for cooperation and remembrance for all. I may greet my friend as braddah, and he may introduce me to his young ones as uncle. Aloha in the Hawaiian language communicates affection, peace, compassion and mercy. To greet someone with Aloha is much more than a casual hello or goodbye. It is like saying Peace be with you in the Christian tradition, or Namaste in Japan... Aloha expresses a deep soul-to-soul recognition as we meet along the way. So I wont list song clues for whats playing this week as I normally do, but I will share that this is my favorite show of the year, with more than forty wonderful musical creations plus many fun stories, TBD :-). Most important, this Christmas Show is my gift to you: with gratitude for your love, friendship and support.
