Whats right is right and whats wrong is wrong. I get that. But I also believe that one ill advised gesture can cause another. This retired DI broke a rule he swore to follow. Civilian or not you dont use your military uniform as a means to draw attention during a protest. We all agreed to that. From the sound of the voice of the Sgt Major he sounds like he is or was apart of the DI company/battalion so he prob took personal offense. To the old school service members? I bet they are smiling at that Sgt Maj for correcting that retiree. I workout with a retired Sgt Maj who tells me all the time how the Corps getting soft. To the news and everyone else he might be portrayed as ignorant or unstable. But when you have been in that long and been through enough that your life is based around that type of lifestyle, you sort of disregard civilian authority to stand up for what you would give your life for. Its not right.. But I understand his point. No matter what he will do what is right in his heart. That Sgt Major is facing charges for what he believes a Marine should do during a tough time. Its not about the protest, or the Marines who died at this point, its about the dignity to be a Marine in and out the uniform. Im open for debates lol.
