Whats the difference between the abattoir of Iloilo City and those of the different LGUs of Iloilo Province? All the abattoirs in Iloilo Province have been built with less than P20 million budget, except for Passi Citys with P45 M, complied with the requirements of, and have been certified as Class AA or Double A, by the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS). That means, their meat is safe for sale to other localities. The one run by Iloilo City costs more than P200 M yet until today, the NMIS still refuses to certify it as double A. Neighbors are grumbling of the foul odor it emits and the contamination of their ditches from the solid and liquid wastes of the facility which remnains fetid.
