Whats up next?? Mark your calendars for the 8th Annual Kent Hood Memorial Core Sound Hunting Rig Competition!! When: June 14, 2014 Registration at 9:00 am Judging at 10am Where: Core Sound Waterfowl Museum & Heritage Center and Cape Lookout National Seashore Picnic Area, Shell Point Harkers Island, North Carolina Judging: Rigs will be judged in water Entry fee: $15.00 per rig of six decoys General rules: The decoys in the rig must fit the IWCA rules for Working Decoys. The rigs must have an 8’ anchor line attached, no weight needed. The rig must be 6 decoys carved and painted by 1 – 6 carvers. All work must be done by the team that enters the rig. The rig entry must include the names of all carvers involved in that rig. No restriction as to the 1 to 6 carvers who make the decoys or time frame in which they were completed, but the work must be done by the team that enters the rig. Rigs may be any species or combination of species that fit into the categories. The contest will be judged in the following three categories: puddle ducks, divers, geese and confidence. No shorebirds. The carvers may offer their birds for sale and must tag them with the sale price, including the 25% commission to the museum. The Best of Show 1, 2, 3 rigs will remain on display at the museum until Sept1, 2012 to promote the art of the Working Decoy. Awards: Best Diver, Best Puddle Duck, and Best Goose and Confidence 1, 2, 3. Best of Show 1, 2, 3. A carver may take decoys from his hunting rig as long as they fit the rules. “This contest was organized as a fun event and to show different styles of working decoys from across the country.
