Whats up with the ALS ice bucket challenge? This morning I saw at least 3 friends here on fb bashing the ALS ice bucket challenge. Excuse me while I climb to the top of my soap box. 1. I have seen reasonable excuses, but let me give you my (unsolicited) thoughts. Yes, some people are jumping on the band wagon for what you may see as attention getting, but dont you know that God works in greater ways than you are allowing your self to think? Before this challenge posting epidemic came along, when was the last time you thought about ALS or the needs of its victims? Unless you have a loved one directly effected by it, it was probably the last time you saw a movie are newscast concerning it. 2. Why not donate and do the challenge? Most people I have seen are doing both. If they are not, who are we to judge another person for what they can or cannot give in the terms of $$$$. They did take time out of their day to post something on fb that made you think once more about ALS. 3. Am I tired of seeing post after post of ice bucket challenges? Maybe, maybe not. It is not any different than the last silly joke that went viral, or the video of a celebrity doing something vile, staged, or plain disgusting. The ice bucket challenge is working to bring awareness to ALS. For those that dont realize the great impact it is making, I say Bless your heart. You are a part of it and dont even realize it. Keep pushing your ideas and beliefs, be it what they are because it is doing the job of keeping the awareness going. Wouldnt it be better to sit back and enjoy. If you were diagnosed tomorrow with ALS, you might change your thoughts quickly. (Crawling off soap box now.)
