Whats up yall. On Sunday I was scheduled to do a meet and greet - TopicsExpress

Whats up yall. On Sunday I was scheduled to do a meet and greet for a short up coming short film that was I asked to do a month ago about my music, or so I thought. I had agreed to do it because it was presented in the way that this short film was about my music, upcoming album, the footwork culture etc. I work a lot of hours so I didnt really do my proper research on who this reporter was, his past work etc. (That was my fault). Anyway Sunday came and I met with the reporter from Germany, Lucas Negroni at Panera in Merrillville, he was accompanied by one of his students or someone he was mentoring. We went inside and the questions started rolling, just the usual questions I get in an interview. So I had no reason to be alarmed right? NOPE I should have been very alarmed. Before I left my home I had given my mother Lucass information and a link to a report/interview(s) he had done previously in Chicago involving several people we all in this group know. I just kind of skimmed through the interview so I really didnt check it out thoroughly like I should have. Two hours into the interview my mother called me, telling me that she had checked out that link and to call her back ASAP. I failed to do so because I was too busy being an idiot and naive thinking that this interview was about displaying our culture and what we do in a positive light when it fact the intention was just the opposite. Finally after the meeting I called her and she told me EVERYTHING and that I need to check that link out ASAP and then decide for myself what the real intent was. I did so and let me just say she was absolutely right. She made me realize the entire interview/film was about the intention of exploiting not only where I live but the continuing exploitation of Chicago. When I realized what was going on I immediately called RP Boo this morning and told him what happened. Listen Im not saying every time someone wants to interview that its bad, what Im saying dont be so blind that you dont ask yourself what that interviewer or reporter stands to gain in interviewing you. I just wanted to share my experience with yall personally in this room. Dont let people flatter you so much that you end up being taken advantage of for personal gain.and that goes for anybody, whether they are in the States or Overseas. Respectfully, Jlin
